Welcome to the Word and Spirit Web Site!

This site is dedicated to the glory of God and the advancement of His kingdom, through the power of the cross of Christ.

Why the name "Word and Spirit"? I believe that God's revealed word, the bible and the indwelling presence of His Spirit are an inseparable union. Spiritual health requires both a relationship with God in the Spirit and an understanding of the information that God has given us in the bible. Growth is becoming more like Christ and always comprises a deepening communion with God as well as a deepening understanding of what He is like. We are truly seated with Christ in the heavenly places (Ephesians  2:6).

I believe that careful study, learning and obedience to God's written word, the bible is essential, but this must serve our relationship with God, not replace it either wholly or in part. I believe that God's Spirit guides and leads us and draws us toward God, naturally reinforcing and re-stating the words of scripture.

I am a continuationist, that is I believe that the example of how the Spirit works, given in Scripture is meant to apply to the church until the ultimate fulfillment of God's plan of salvation. I encourage you to pray that the Spirit will work in our hearts, that we would accept the gifts that God gives us as His will and as part of His plan of salvation.

I believe that we need to be genuine in what we profess and do, being careful in what we attribute to the working of the Spirit, remembering that His primary work is in our own hearts. We must also remember that we are decieved sinners, and that our intellects are likewise biased, prejudiced and selfish; without the ministry of the Spirit we are restricted to the limits of our own weak human hearts.

The contents of this site are intended as practical help to like-minded Christians who are searching for ways to deepen their spiritual lives and to better manifest the presence of Christ. The emphasis is on practical, doing aspects, rather than theory alone.

I hope that this site will build people in their faith. I also pray that it would build the body of Christ.

In the name of Christ,
Graham Wright
